6/26/13 Not a Technical Difficulty

by elle on June 26, 2013 at 10:36 AM

The original strip #710 has been removed by request.

I’m incredibly sleep deprived and I won’t be home from work until quite late tonight, but I’ll do my best to have a replacement comic up soon.

EDIT: Replacement comic is up! If you tuned in Monday and saw zombies, you might want to backtrack and check out the replacement on Wednesday :)

Fanime 2013: details

by elle on May 19, 2013 at 8:31 PM

As a reminder, I’ll be in the artist alley at Fanime this year! I will be at table #17 the entirety of Memorial Day Weekend. The Official Map is here, and an easier to read fan-made map is here. On the fan-made map I’m in G block.

Merch-wise, I’ll have my one-shot minicomics (the Scribble holiday one-shot because Scribble is fashionable for all seasons, the out-of-print one-shot comics collection, and Tiny Girl Robot Love), Scribble buttons, issues 1 and 2 of Hey Derby Girl, prints and miniprints, a limited number of Erstwhile hardcovers, on-site commissions while time and energy allow, and a random assortment of original comic art for sale (including some of the original painted pages for Death of the Little Hen). If you’ll be attending Fanime and you have a specific page you’d like to purchase, please email me by Wednesday night and I’ll make sure I bring it along :)

Other than that, I expect to return next week with fodder for future comics. I have not actually attended an anime con in like 10 years. I suspect there will be culture shock :p

Littlest Elle Project for 2013-2014, and Fanime 2013

by elle on April 27, 2013 at 11:06 PM

Hey guys!

There haven’t been tons of announcements so far this year. A lot of things in my life have been running at bare minimum while I dealt with a 3 month stint of mono, and now I’m scrambling a bit to catch up. You’ll have a few more from me once I get my bearings and plan out my comics-plans for the year.

As for Littlest Elle… this comic was started so that I could learn things. Well, something I want to learn more about is producing a book. Starting this May, I’m going to attempt to produce a year’s worth of Littlest Elle comics in a format that would be print-friendly so that ultimately in 2014 I could make a book of them :) After that date in 2014? Well, I’ll see how my experiment went and what I’m interested in and then I’ll make a new game plan from there.

What does this mean for the comic? Well, unfortunately, it means the comic will be done in greyscale for a year. I’m a little nervous about dropping color because I LOVE color and it’s been fun to work with, but color is more expensive to print and I want to give future-me as many printing options as possible. Besides, I think there is a lot I could learn by working in greyscale for a while :) Highly technical artsy things about compositions and values. Comic layouts may also shift around a bit as I will have Actual Page-Size Guidelines I Need To Follow, but I already have some creative ideas for how to transition web stuff to print that has me pretty inspired.

I hope you’ll all still stick with me!

Also, um, wish me luck. It’s kind of a daunting project and I hope I end up with something worthwhile at the end of it ^_^;;

In completely unrelated news, I want to remind everyone local that I’ll be tabling at Fanime 2013, which is Memorial Day Weekend down in San Jose :) More details closer to!

L/E is back to Monday/Fridays only in 2013

by elle on December 31, 2012 at 11:39 AM

Hey guys!

So 2013 is upon us, which I can hardly believe (time flies, I guess!). It’s been a fun and challenging year and I’m excited to have my hand in so many different artistic projects ^_^

Starting this week I’ll be scaling back Littlest Elle updates to 2x a week instead of 3x a week. It’s been a fun little experiment for 2012 to add the extra Wednesday update, but it’s been difficult to maintain while also working on so many other things. So! Going forward, updates will return to every Monday/Friday, and hopefully you’ll end up with fewer comics about how tired I am ^_~ Hopefully.

If you’d like to see some of the other things I have my hands in, I recommend checking out my other comic, Missing Monday, or the online fairytale anthology that I participate in, Erstwhile Tales! I’m also a regular fixture at the local Dr. Sketchy’s lifedrawing group, drawin’ sexy burlesquey dames from life.

Here’s to a new year and new endeavors! See you guys on Friday :)

New Comic on Erstwhile this December

by elle on December 13, 2012 at 10:53 AM

My latest fairytale, Death of the Little Hen, launched on Erstwhile Tales this week! I picked and scripted this story myself, and apparently I’m a masochist because I also decided I should paint the entire thing in watercolor pencils? Which was, well. I’ve always been very rough and loose with pencils and inks for my comics because I have Photoshop to help me clean up. To have to pencil lightly (so I can ERASE my pencils, what on earth) and to have to ink precisely because the only corrections I could do would be minor… it was challenging, to put it mildly. But it’s a challenge I’m glad I tried, because now I’ve learned all sorts of things and I feel like my art skill gained some experience points :)

Plus, I’ll be forever indebted to this comic for introducing me to my new life partner, the T-Square.

Anyway.

Even if you’re not a fairytale fan, the art on this thing just COLORFUL AND FUN and I encourage you to go check it out :) It’ll be running three times a week for the next month or so.
