Reason #5 why I do not like opening shifts: what I like to call the fishbowl effect. At this point in my jaded and twitchy career, I kind of want to be a reason for my boss to post a “do not tap the glass” sign at the front of the store.
EDIT: Dawns on me, I should clarify that I work in the front section of our store, and like most of the Union Square storefronts, it’s entirely glass. It’s unfortunate to work there when we are closed, as that makes me the one who has to field the various irate customers (and, sometimes, irate hobos. That was a magical Christmas Eve…)
