This happens a lot. I get snickered at by the security staff, the cleaning crew, and customers when they see me struggling with the more physical parts of my job. You have no idea how often I want to shout at them: “It’s not because I have tits, you asshole, it’s because of
cripple arms a medical condition, now stop staring and go on with your life!”
I couldn’t figure out how to work it into the panel, but moving racks is actually very tricky and hard to do, so his mocking me was especially dickish. The racks, always carried 3-6 at a time and built out extremely heavy metal, have a base that’s a giant Z-shape approximately 3 feet wide at the front and back. The doorway I have to pull them through so we can load up the truck is also approximately 3 feet wide. Add into the fact that they are heavy and that all the wheels are broken so they don’t move very easily and you can see it’s a motherfucker to angle them in by yourself no matter WHO you are.
However, I kind of failed at portraying that particular detail. If I were to do it again, I’d probably make this a 4-panel strip and have his offer to help talking over a close-up of the bottom of the racks. It’s kind of funny, but I’ve learnt a ton about very tight story telling through these Elle strips.
